Having church at 9am on Mothers day was a real "treat". Nothing like getting everyone ready and out the door, AND to church by 9am. Let's just say that I didn't have time to eat breakfast, so I was starving. Good thing they handed out chocolate to all the mothers after sacrament meeting. I was sitting in Primary holding Jonathan, and I am feeling pretty snazzy in my new dress that I am wearing for the first time, when all of a sudden, Jonathan hurls down the front of my dress. Not only down the front of my dress, but down my leg, and enough left over to fill up my sandal. Nothing like warm lumpy vomit between the toes to liven up the morning. The moms around me were thoroughly grossed out and thankful it wasn't them. Baby wipes are a gift from heaven. When noon came, I was stinky (from vomit), hungry (from no breakfast!) and tired (being up a lot as Jonathan is cutting yet another tooth!). Our church house is right around the corner, so Nathan rides on Trents lap (he is quadriplegic and in a wheelchair for those of you who don't know that) when the weather is nice, so I just meet them at home. Well, they snuck out of church early without me knowing and on the door into the house was this sign:
As I walked into the house, Nathan and Trent were there to greet me looking all proper and said something like: "Welcome to the Mothers Day Hotel. Food for you and your son Jonathan awaits you in the dining room" (and then they swung their arms across the front of their body pointing me into the "dining room" aka kitchen). I walk into the kitchen and this is what was there:
(sign says: Happy Mothers Day Love Hotel Staff)
I was shocked! Waffles, cheesy scrambled eggs, bacon AND extra chocolatey chocolate milk! They had prepared food for Jonathan and Nathan fed Jonathan while I sat and ate (devoured)my food. It was ta die fowr! There was so much love put into this meal it truly touched my heart, it still gets me choked up even now to think about it. I am so blessed to have such a great family. It brought back memories of all the times Nathan and Trent have made me breakfast in bed. Even back in the early days when Nathan was real little, they would put yogurt in a bowl, or cook instant oatmeal in the microwave, or scrambled eggs in the microwave "Power Ranger Eggs". And now they are cooking full on meals. It is incredible to me the things that they can accomplish together. Trent is such a wonderful dad. He tells Nathan how to do things, step by step, and the things they accomplish just truly amaze me. I was truly "feelin the love". And to top it off, Jonathan took a 2 1/2 hour nap, so I got a good nap (except for the fact that I kept waking myself up with my own snoring! I was out!) What a wonderful mothers day. Life just doesn't get much better than that.

That is SO NEAT! Major points for Trent! (I keep waiting for Chad to get that creative.)
Glad to see that waffle maker is getting used!
hi ya - thanks for stopping by my blog. I did some "past post" reading, and I'll be adding you to my blog roll. You write well, and the motherhood adventures sound SO familiar... Gotta love these kids of ours eh?
What a sweet Mother's Day!
Hi there! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Of course you can come back, and I'm sorry for ruining the Dancing with the Stars results for you. I have a tendency to do that. :) I'm just so glad Cristian is still in the running -- he deserves it. I think Kristi should win, though.
Hi Kristi!
See what happens when you visit other people's blogs - they come and see YOU! Now you're in the spotlight girl!
OK, but seriously? I was distracted for most of your happy mothers day post because all I could think of was "why didn't she just go home and change!?" I remember those vomitty days of babyhood and I don't think I ever stuck it out - not with baby vomit squishing in my toes anyway! Kudos to you!
I'm glad you had such a fun treat on MD. Your family sound like gems.
Welcome to BlogWorld!
Oh and I did an interview for Tristi and her new book - there's a contest too! Come see! grrlinawhirl.blogspot.com
I had the very same thought as Ali - screw the baby wipes! Go home and clean up! Geesh, I usually look for just about any excuse I can find to get out of 3 hours of church.
Kuddos to Trent & Nathan, though. Mainly, for finding a great excuse to skip out of church early. But also for giving you a fabulous Mother's Day. You more than deserve it!
Your guys are so sweet. I'd take a home cooked meal waiting on the table for me after a three hour block of church (one of these days I swear I'm gonna make good on my threat to convert to Catholicism...that way I'll knock out religion and exercise all in one shot) over paper flowers or a macaroni necklace any day. You are a lucky girl.
I love this! Oh, how wonderful! Happy Mother's to you, Kristi. :)
Oh, I see you have my sweet friend Tristi here who left a comment as well! She's is AWESOME! Plus she's a great novelist. If you visit her blog {blogs} often you will fall in love with her! She's even more fun in person. :)
Man, it didnt even cross my mind to go home and change! It was the perfect excuse wasn't it? We were having the kids in primary doing a mothers day gift, so I wiped up with the baby wipes and carried on with the gift. I should have bagged the rest of the presidency and went home. darn...at least I know what I'll do next time, that is for sure! :)
